The Stamp

The stamp comes from 4 values Insects issue.

Although Hong Kong covers a small land area, its subtropical climate nourishes a rich and diversified insect fauna. Over 5,000 species of insects have been recorded locally, and many of them are truly beautiful and attractive. A number of which, such as the Yellow-spotted Emerald, are endemic. In addition,
the stamps are printed in special fine screen that the detail feature and colour of insects can be clearly shown. Moreover, the name of insects were embedded in the stamps by micro-print which adds to their collection value.

This set of special stamps depicts four species of insect found in Hong Kong.  Yellow-spotted Emerald (Macromidia ellenae Wilson),this medium-sized forest dragonfly has distinctive yellow spots on its thorax. It is a predatory insect found in unpolluted forest streams in Pat Sin Leng. It is endemic to Hong Kong.
